The map

The map is the whole province, drawn from the simulation as it runs: every resident where they are this minute, every car where its journey has got to, every room furnished as the province lays it out.

Moving about

Wheel Zoom about the cursor.
Drag (any button) Move the map.
W A S D, arrows Move the map.
= / − (or the numpad's) Zoom in and out.
+, −, ⌂ (right) Zoom in, zoom out, fit the whole province.
Click Select a person, a house (its household) or a building; on empty ground, clear the selection.
Double-click a house or building Drop into it: the map fits it and selects it.
Double-click a person Follow them.

Fly-to buttons on the right go straight to Emmaus, Newhaven, Ithemba, Unity Provincial Airport, the Unity CBD, Unity Park and the hospital campus; hover over one for what it is.

The breadcrumb at the top left (Province › City › Settlement › House › Person) shows where you are and steps back out: click any step. Esc steps out one level too, after closing whatever is open on top (the scene controls, Settings or Help, the analytics drawer).

Zoom in past the room plans and the map becomes the 3D close-up; the 3D button in the zoom column keeps the map flat at every zoom instead.

What appears as you zoom in

Zoom You see
The whole province The three cities and their outlines, the roads, the Hyperline's guideway, the airport, every plot tinted in its household's colour, everyone as a dot of their shape.
A city Settlement names, road names, building names.
A settlement Plot numbers, then household names; door marks; the windows of buses and trains; dashed lines between people talking.
A house The rooms inside every building, with their furniture; residents' household badges, mood and pregnancy marks, schooling ticks and speech bubbles.
A person Room names, first names, profession codes, and the selected person's full label.

Reading the residents

Every resident is a shape, with marks that say who they are. Press L (or legend at the bottom of the map) for the legend.

Households and places

Each of the province's plots has a fixed colour, worn by its fence and tint, by the badge on every one of its residents, and by its chips in the lists and the inspector. Select a household (or any of its members) and every member gets a ring in that colour wherever they are in the province.

A place with nobody in it is drawn slightly greyed: a house whose household is out at work, school or church, a shop after hours, a church on a weekday, a parked car, an empty bus. The colour comes back when someone is inside.
